The projects, executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff Quick Impact Project (CNSQIP) initiative, were commissioned on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, in honour of Rear Admiral Chiedozie Donald Okehie, as part of efforts to foster civil-military cooperation and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of communities within the Nigerian Navy’s areas of influence. The Chief of the Naval Staff was represented at the commissioning ceremony by the Chief of Accounts and Budget, Rear Admiral OO Olukoya, who formally commissioned the projects on behalf of the CNS.
Speaking at the occasion, the representative of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral OO Olukoya, said the projects were a demonstration of the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to giving back to its host communities and strengthening the existing bond between the Service and the people. He noted that the intervention would provide the community with improved access to essential amenities, particularly potable water, while the renovated hall would serve as a useful facility for community activities. He urged the community to take ownership of the projects, ensure their proper maintenance and continue to support the Nigerian Navy in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
Also present was the Ubi 1 of Uzoubi Umuna, HRH Eze C Okereke Boniface, and other community leaders, who expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for the intervention and commended the facilitator of the project for facilitating the gesture. They noted that the projects would significantly enhance the welfare and development of the community.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Flag Officers Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral EA Zipele and Central Naval Command Rear Admiral SD Ibrahim, alongside other senior officers from Nigerian Navy establishments and military schools, sister Services and paramilitary agencies.
The intervention underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening civil-military relations and delivering impactful projects that improve the welfare and wellbeing of host communities.
