REAR ADMIRAL CD OKEHIE is the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Chiedozie Donald Okehie, GSS, who hails from Imo State, Nigeria.
He began his early military education at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, and later proceeded to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry before being commissioned into the Nigerian Navy.
In pursuit of further academic and professional development, Rear Admiral Okehie obtained a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies from the United Kingdom and a Master of Philosophy degree in Security and Strategic Studies. He attended King’s College London and he’s an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Executive Education Programme.
He successfully completed both the Nigerian and Joint United Kingdom Staff Courses, is a Fellow of the Defence College, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Intelligence and Security Management, amongst others.
Throughout his distinguished military career, he has attended several professional courses, including the Armed Forces Command and Staff Course, the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the United Kingdom, as well as the Strategic and Management Course at the National Defence College, Abuja, just to mention a few.
Rear Admiral Okehie has contributed significantly to national and maritime strategic development. He served as a member of the Total Spectrum Maritime Strategy Committee in 2011 and was also a co-opted member of the Presidential Committee on the Review of the Outcome of the Maritime Sector Retreat in 2012, amongst other strategic national assignments.
He has held several operational, instructional, and strategic appointments, including Naval Assistant to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Commanding Officer NNS CENTENARY, Chief Instructor at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Director of Coordination at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Commandant of the Nigerian Naval College, and Deputy Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College. He also served as Director of Personnel Release, Director Project Implementation and Monitoring and Director of lessons learnt, all at Naval Headquaters.
On 3 November 2025, he assumed duty as the 43rd Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, a position he currently holds.
Rear Admiral Okehie is a recipient of several awards and honours, including the prestigious Grand Service Star, the Chief of the Naval Staff Commendation Award 2022, the Command at Sea Badge, having accumulated approximately 4,000 hours at sea, including three years as a Commanding Officer.
He was also named Best Student in the Department of Maritime Warfare during the Senior Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and won the Best Paper in Maritime Operations at the National Defence College, Course 26, with his research titled “Anti-Piracy Operations and National Security,” amongst other notable recognitions.Rear Admiral Okehie is happily married and blessed with children. At his leisure, he enjoys playing golf, chess, watching football and reading.
